CIDEON Records Excellent Results for the 2011 Business Year

Januar 2012: TOP Results for the Subsidiary Company CIDEON Engineering

In the 2011 business year CIDEON Engineering was able to record a double-digit increase in sales through its business activities in Germany and Switzerland. With a consolidated sales increase of 14% the company was able to record sales totalling more than 15 million euro for the business year which clearly exceeded expectations. The number of staff also increased in the last year by a total of 10% and now stands at 165.

„This is the result of a consistent focus on our core business – the rail vehicle market,“ according to Roger Scholtes, Sales and Marketing Manager. The year 2011 featured many organizational changes and optimization measures. These were all carried out without having any negative effects on daily business. The additional sales activities allowed the national and international customer base to expand further.

The company is now also able to recognize changes to the market more quickly and to adapt its products and services accordingly without any delays. For example, the demand for consulting services is increasing rapidly. Manufacturers are entering into new markets by distributing their existing products in new countries or by entering new product markets by extending their product range. „The customers appreciate our many years of experience and our expertise in developing, modernizing and converting rail-bound vehicles according to their specific needs. According to the CIDEON Engineering Director, Tilo Mey, „our many years of experience in the market and our highly specialized workforce ensure a high degree of professional competence.“

The high demand for skilled personnel among the manufacturers of rail cars posed another challenge for us in 2011. The manager responsible for the outsourcing of staff, Eckhard Rönnecke, says that „manufacturers like to be able to rely on the engineers and the specialists at CIDEON Engineering to cover their peak periods. The transfer of our specialists to the manufacturers’ sites provides them with a high degree of flexibility and transparency for their projects.“ Our business field of outsourcing specialist professionals to our customers was able to satisfy the demand in almost all cases despite the shortage of skilled labor. This specialist service was thus able to contribute more than 40% towards the overall result.

Our project business was also very successful. Several major projects were successfully completed in 2011. According to Heinz Hügle, Managing Director of our Switzerland operation, „we were awarded numerous contracts for new projects, both on a national and an international basis. Here good project management played an important, if not the decisive, role. Customers expect projects to be professionally managed.“

CIDEON Engineering is thus looking at the new 2012 business year with renewed optimism.
